Angela M. Sinclair passed away on September 28, 2012 at her residence
in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on September 13, 1935 in Tell City,
Indiana to Percy and Mildred (Howe) Schutz. She was preceded in death
by her parents, a sister, Billie Jean Fulmer (Richard), and two brothers,
Donald and Ronald (Bobby) Schutz. Angie is survived by a sister, Linda K.
Jones (Robert), her husband of 26 years, Richard, until their divorce in
1968 after which they continued to be close business partners in several
demanding businesses, and remained devoted and loving to their family
including three children, Dirk (Teresa), Derik, and Dakri Sinclair (Jim
Herrell), four grandchildren, Dustin (Micah), Brauly, Maggie, and Graden
and two great grandchildren, Daylon and Mayci.
Angela attended Memorial High School for two years and the Academy of
the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Ind. for two years where she
graduated in 1953. She will be remembered by many as having been
chosen "Miss Refrigerdorable" for the third annual Evansville Football
Refrigerator Bowl in 1953. Angie then began an exciting 20 year career as
a socially active Air Force wife, mother, multitalented artist and business
woman. Air Force assignments took her to Montgomery, AL. Spokane
WA. Los Angeles, CA, and San Antonio,TX.
Upon retirement from the USAF, Angie returned to Evansville to begin a
long career in business including several retail stores (Dakri's), a unique
and demanding cottage industry manufacturing company (Arbor Hill House
Inc.) which shipped to all states in the US and some export to Germany and
Japan. Her products were also sold in major department stores such as
Bloomingdales, Nieman Marcus, Carson Perie Scott, and Lazarus. She
opened two wonderful tea rooms (Tootie's') in Newburgh which were
children oriented. Many will remember her magnificent pastries and the full
dress tea parties for young children. As in all Angie's artistic endeavors,
she always went that extra mile to provide the most unique and beautiful
businesses for her customers.
Angie will also be remembered for her "Christmas Mouse House" on
Stringtown Hill which featured "Tootie Mouse" and her family and friends, all
portrayed as dressed mice. She published three children's books about the
Tootie's family, worked with WNIN on an award winning 30-minute
children's television program, and also took Tootie Mouse to
Bloomingdale's in NYC in another book she wrote. Angie was a dedicated
and energetic worker. She will be sadly missed and always remembered
as a one in a million very special lady.
