Anita M. Mayo, age 89, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at home. She was born on December 11, 1932, in Evansville, Indiana to the late William and Marcella (Stout) Smith.
Anita was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Girl Scout leader for several years and earned the highest medal St. Anne. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, loved red roses, taking photos, and most of all she loved her family and grandkids.
Anita is survived by her two daughters; Virginia “Ginnie” Dunn, Connie Mayo, son, Richard “Rick” (Maria) Mayo, three grandchildren, Justin and Molly Mayo, and Trevor Dunn’ special family members; Christina Bockman and (Eric Aster), and children, Kelsey Jo, Brad, Myles Wheeler, Kaylen Rae Ashby, Caleb, and Sawyer Wayne Moll. Siblings: Shirley Groves, James (Jimmy) Smith, Frances M. Smith, Dorothy C. Hurt, Michael Smith (Deloris), Robert J. Smith (Sheryl), Donald (Donny) Smith, Jill Sandefur, Jack D. Smith, and Deborah (Debbie) Werner (Mark).
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard “Dick,” infant son Tommy Joe, grandson Jerry Wayne Cooper, and son in law Larral Dunn. Siblings: William Smith, Norma Jean Ethridge, Joann Hines, Patricia Dillman, Sandra Howard, Rosalie Beck, and Marianne Gise.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 am.-3:00 pm. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. 47630 (812) 853-8314.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm. at the funeral home.
Entombment will be at a later date with her husband at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Evansville, IN.
