Anthony I. “Tony” Pazera, of Newburgh, IN, formerly of Albuquerque, NM, died on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born on February 1st, 1931 to the late Anthony J. and Nellie (nee Bilumas) Pazera.
On October 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Bette” Carlin at Holy Angles Catholic Church in Gary, IN. Tony served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and graduated with honors from Xavier University in Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration. He later became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Ohio, Minnesota, and New Mexico. Tony held positions with Peat Marwick, Mitchell (now KPMG), Arthur Andersen, Dow Corning, E.F. Johnson, and then his own Public Accounting Practice until retirement. Tony was an avid football and basketball sports fan but loved all sports that included Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Tony enjoyed giving his time and energy to the Catholic Church and other charitable causes and was involved in the very many parishes where he lived.
Tony is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter Susan (Gary) Gilbert; grandchildren David (Karen) Gilbert, Theresa (Dr. Howard) Heerdt, Erick Gilbert, and John Runland; 2 sisters Mary Ogles and Anne (Tony) Russo; 11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, our beloved Tony was preceded in death by his son Robert A. Pazera, granddaughter Annie Runland, and brother Frank S. “Horse” Pazera.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN. 47630. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. John the Baptist Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN. 47630.
