Anthony J. "Tony" Starinieri, 76, of Newburgh, IN, passed away, Sunday,
September 27, 2009 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born, June
13, 1933 in Steubenville, OH, to Joseph and Marianne (Rosario) Starinieri.
He graduated from Catholic Central high School, in Steubenville, in 1950.
He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and spent two years in
the United States Army serving his country.
He worked in the finance and banking industry his entire career which took
him from Steubenville, to Chicago, IL and Washington, DC. He was also a
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of a local bank in Virginia.
Tony was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd. Degree
Council # 8746 and Fourth Degree Assembly # 253 and he was a member
of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In retirement he enjoyed golf,
bowling, and spending time with family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mozelle (Chapman) Starinieri of
Newburgh; children, Joe Starinieri (Pam) of Chicago, Tim Starinieri of
Hearndon, VA, Mike Starinieri (Robin) of New Baltimore, VA, Julie Bass
(Jeff) of New Baltimore, VA, and Mary Plunkett (Kevin) of Centreville, VA, as
well as 13 grandchildren, Samantha, Amy, Kevin, Tony, Grace, Noah, Jordon,
Madison, Josh, Lindsey, Meagan, Kyle, and Haley, and sisters, Rose
DiCeasar and Julia Salamone and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2009
at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd. Newburgh, IN. Rev.
Fr. Joseph Ziliak will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 30,
2009, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~
Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. Additional visitation
will be held Thursday, 9 a.m. to service time at the church.
