Arthur J. Geiselman, of Elberfeld, 94, retired into heavenly peace as he left
this world at 9:05 p.m., on August 8, 2012, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was born August 23, 1917, to Adolph and Minnie (Bawel) Geiselman.
A 1936 graduate of Elberfeld High, Art was active in the Elberfeld
community his entire life.
He served his country in the South Pacific during WW II as he was
assigned to the U S Army's 113th Ordinance Company for four and a half
years. He was also a member of the Elberfeld American Legion Post 351
A life-time member of Elberfeld Zion UCC, he operated a welding shop
with his brother until 2000. It was here that he created such known
inventions as the Jiffy-Lift unloaders and his favorite, the Dusty L
houseboat.
Loving to fish and boat, Art spent countless hours on his boat at KY Lake
and vacationed every summer on Pelican Lake in Minnesota.
He was very active in the schools' activities as he annually served up his
delicious funnel cakes at their festivals and supported their athletic teams.
He was especially proud of his grandchildren. He travelled far and wide to
support them in their athletic endeavors and enjoyed sharing his passion of
the water with them.He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and
Minnie (Bawel) Geiselman and 2 sisters Ruth Qsha and Esther Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jackie; grandchildren, Jesse Oxley
and Kreig Oxley both of Elberfeld; daughter, Leslie (Kevin) Oxley of
Elberfeld; son, Chet of Muncie; brother, Arnold of Elberfeld; sisters, Elnora
Ingram of Boonville and Evelyn France of McCuthanville; and daughter-in-
law, Anita Powell.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2012, at Zion
United Church of Christ, 2nd & Elm Sts., Elberfeld, Ind., Rev. Rick Bender
and Rev. Steve Oeth will officiate and burial will follow in the church
cemetery.
Visitation will be 11:30 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes,
Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Sts., Elberfeld, Ind. (812) 983-4211.
Additional visitation will be 9 a.m. to service time at church on Monday.
