Bennie R. Menke (Big Ben)
Bennie R. Menke (Big Ben), 70, of Elberfeld, Ind., passed away Sunday, May
9, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born December 31, 1939 in
Elberfeld to Walter and Lorene (Deneke) Menke.
He served in the United States Army National Guard. Bennie worked for
Union 566 as a concrete finisher for over 40 years. He was a member of the
Eagles Lodge in Oakland City, Ind., the Elberfeld American Legion, and the
Campbell Conservation Club.
He enjoyed going to car shows and swap meets and especially enjoyed
being with his family, friends and his "Little Man" Camron.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon and
Raymond Menke.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon "Sue" Menke; daughter,
Tamara Perkins and husband, Brad; grandson, Camron Ray and step-
grandson, Kameron; brothers, Lester, Russel, Gary, Marvin and David;
sisters, Rosemary Stratman, Mariana Meyer, and Jane Meyer; many nieces,
nephews and friends.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to Rev. Bender, and Bennie's many
friends, and the staff at St. Mary's Medical Center for their care and concern.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Zion
United Church of Christ in Elberfeld. Rev. Rick Bender will officiate with
burial in Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Titzer
Family Funeral Homes ~ Volkman Chapel 2nd & Elm Streets Elberfeld, Ind.
