Bobby R. Yancey, 86, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away, Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at home. He was born August 31, 1927, in Henderson, KY, to Roscoe and Venus (Wilhite) Yancey.
He served in the United States Army during WWII in Germany. Bobby retired in 1989 after 40 years at Whirlpool in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he had served on the cemetery board and was a member of the Men's Club. Bobby was a lifetime member of the VFW 1114. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working around his home and was an avid gardener.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maryetta Yancey; brothers, James Yancey, Sr., John Yancey; sisters, Wanda Stotts, Gertrude Helfert, Laurel Calhoun.
He is survived by children, John Michael Yancey, Sr. (Barb), Alan Roscoe Yancey Sr. (Deborah), Cathy Cranick (Ron Sr.), Janet Jenkins (Jack), Betty Turner, Jesse Yancey (Pam), Amy Teare (Shane); 13 grandchildren, John Yancey Jr., Alan Yancey Jr., Jennifer Thornburgh, Ron Cranick Jr., Adam Cranick (Delicia), Elizabeth Cranick, Brian Jenkins (Kari), Kevin Jenkins (Mallory), Todd Turner, Abby Turner, Jarrett Yancey, Aubrey Yancey, Kathleen Teare; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-granddaughter; brother, Donald Yancey; and sister, Emma Perkins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd, Newburgh, Indiana, entombment will follow in the church mausoleum with Military Rites.
