Capitola Laura Deneke, 91, formerly of Elberfeld , Ind., passed away, Monday, May 9, 2011 at Autumn Glen Assisted Living in Greencastle , Ind. She was born March 1, 1920 in Evansville to Arnie and Lizzie (Lauck) Hammel. She was a beautician and operated Cappy's Beauty Shop for many years. She was a member of Zion UCC in Elberfeld. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilfred "Toots" Deneke; brother and sisters, Clarence "Ed", Bonnie Stratman and Mary Ruth Lentz. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors are daughter, Linda Berge (Larry) of Coatsville; grandson, Beau Berge (Mari); great- granddaughters, Sara Lynn and Kara Jane Berge; brothers, John and Donald Hammel; sister Harmony Pritchett. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Zion United Church of Christ in Elberfeld , Ind. Reverend Rick Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Zion UCC Cemetery . Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion UCC.
