Carl H. Godeke, 89, of Elberfeld, IN, passed away, Monday, June 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1921, to William and Margaret (Schaperjohn) Godeke in Campbell Twp, Warrick County, IN. He graduated from Millersburg High School, School of Banking in Wisconsin and Lockyear Business College. Carl retired as President of the Elberfeld State Bank; he was the last surviving Charter member of Elberfeld Kiwanis and was also a member of Zion's United Church of Christ in Elberfeld, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Hahn, Edna Kuhlenschmidt and Elsie Forerster. Carl was survived by his wife of 62 years, Bettye Hart Godeke; daughter, Marilyn Burton (Brad) of Stafford, VA; grandchildren, Eric Moore and Stephanie Franklin of Fredericksburg, VA, Danielle McCall of Wirtz, VA and Natalie Burton of Boonville, IN; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Payton McCall, Zachary and Alexa Franklin and Braiden Burton. Also surviving sisters, Mable Blythe and Doris Young of Evansville, IN, Dorothy Menke and Wilma Drilling of Elberfeld, IN, Evelyn Rettinger of Bourbon, IN, Marian Miller of Lafayette, IN, brothers Emil of Cullman, AL, and Ray of Elberfeld, IN and Harold of Evansville, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 at Zion UCC Second and Elm Streets, Elberfeld, IN, burial in Zion UCC Cemetery. Pastor Rick Bender will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Titzer Family Funeral Home ~ Volkman Chapel, Second and Elm Streets, Elberfeld, IN, and Friday, 10 a.m. to time or service at the church.
