Carole Ann Monroe, 73, of Evansville, formerly of Cynthiana, went to her final resting place of April 9, 2019 at Linda E. White Hospice after a long battle with lung cancer. Carole was born in Newburgh on June 17, 1945. She was the daughter of Heavren Settles and Roberta (Pasely) Settles. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and church and community member. She worked tirelessly to support the youth of Cynthiana by volunteering every week at the community center to provide activities including youth groups, cub scouts, and weekly youth get-togethers and activities. She also served her community by spearheading the recycling effort for the town of Cynthiana. She was awarded by the State of Indiana for her service and management of the recycling centers. Carole spent part of her life working as a CNA and continued that caring attitude throughout her life by taking care of the elderly people in her community. She enjoyed reading the bible, camping, fishing, cooking, board games, playing cards, attending church services, singing hymns, spending time with her family, growing plants, enjoying nature, her pets, painting, and special events. During her life she was a member of Cynthiana Christian Church, Fairhaven Christ Fellowship Church, and Vann Avenue Baptist Church. Carole was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 27 years, Roy H. Monroe; son, Donald R. Cook; granddaughter, Roseanna K. Farrar; and siblings, Dave Settles, Clyde Settles, Jan Settles, Brenda Settles, Edna Hinton, Sharon Settles. She is survived by her children, Carleea Monroe, Roy S. Monroe, Lisa Millsap (Frank), Fred Gibson (Rima), Morleea Gibson (Abdi Aden), Morris Gibson, Morisa Farrar (Charlie Cleveland); sister, Sandara Williamson; grandchildren, Alexis Morrison, Kaleb Lantrip, Jeffery Cook, Kevin Cook Farmer, Robin Gibson, Ahmed Aden, Bilal Aden, Zack Aden, Abdiselam Aden, Mary Kate Cleveland, Charlotte Farrar, Heaven Gibson, Angel Potter, Jordan Gibson, Annabelle Gibson; and great-grandchildren, Roseanna Berry, Bruce Cook-Farmer, Christopher Cook-Farmer. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2019 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, IN (812) 424-9274. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery. A lunch program, in honor of Carole Monroe, will follow the services at the Red Wagon Restaurant in Poseyville.
