Charles David Gibbs, 58, of Evansville, Ind., was called home by his Heavenly Father, Sunday December 14, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Charles was a proud Halloween baby born October 31, 1956 in Evansville to James and Mabel (Randolph) Gibbs. He grew up in Mt. Vernon, IN and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1975. He was a loyal employee of SABIC (General Electric) for 30 years, retiring due to illness. Charlie was a Son of the American Legion Otis Stone Post, a member of Evansville Lodge # 5, Cawthar Temple #118, St. John Consistory Member 54 and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
He married the love of his life, Katrina Sue (Jones) on May 5, 2001and she survives. Recently, Charlie and Katrina became members of the River
City Clowns and Clowns of America. This was something Charlie was very proud of and he put his heart and soul into being Mr. Jambles, the Hobo.
Also surviving are his brothers, Robert Gibbs (Bonnie) and James Gibbs; mother-in-law, Anna Jones; other in laws, Arrinda Smith (Mark), Jan Sisson (Bob), Angela Bohleber (Michael), James Inman (Martha) and Tammy Jones. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews. Although not biological Charlie welcomed by choice, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him to heaven were his parents; a sister, Ruth Elizabeth Gibbs; father-in-law, Elmo Jones; brother-in-law, Hughie Jones; sister-in-law, Connie Kaye Gibbs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 617 Bellemeade Ave., Evansville, Indiana. Father Dave Martin will officiate and burial will follow at St. Matthew Catholic Church Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Indiana.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m., at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Indiana. Additional visitation will be 10 a.m. to Mass time Friday at the church.
