Charles Elbert Hobson, 84, of Evansville, Ind., passed away, Friday, December 16, 2016, at home.  He was born October 8, 1932, in Evansville.

He graduated from Center Inn grade school in Warrick County and went on to Boonville High School.  He served in the United States Army, 4th Regimental Combat team in Alaska before becoming a state, and the 5th Regimental Combat team in Korea.  He was a member of the VFW Post 3418, and the American Legion Post in Boonville.  Formerly worked at Chrysler, then worked for Arkla from 1961 to 1984, Preway 1984-1987, and Domitic 1987-1991.

Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Marie Hobson; parents, Clem W. and Emma B. (Pickens) Hobson; brothers, Clem Richard Hobson, Jr., William Roscoe Hobson (killed in Korea, September 4, 1950), Robert Leland Hobson (who escorted Bill from Korea for burial in Maple Grove Cemetery); and sisters, Emily Ruth Campton, Mary Christine Mauer.

He is survived by brothers, Harold Lee Hobson, James Edward Hobson of Evansville, Joey Laverne Hobson of California, Kenneth Earl Hobson of Owensboro; sister , Barbara Jean Winternheimer of Evansville; nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Jean Knight of Boonville.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Ind., (812) 424-9274.  Entombment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with full Military Rites. 

Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday and 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.  Sympathy wishes to the family may be shared at www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
