Dr. Charles W. Freudenberg

Newburgh- Dr. Charles William Freudenberg, 95 passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Charlie was born in Evansville, Indiana on Oct. 9, 1925 to Wilbur and Norma Freudenberg. He graduated from Reitz High school, was a 10 year 4-H member, and earned his Eagle Scout. He graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in agriculture. He went on to receive his Doctor's degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Michigan State University. In 1952 he married the love of his life, Delores Schmidt.  Charles served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Captain.  He settled in Newburgh, IN where he wanted to raise a family.  He owned and practiced veterinary medicine at Parkdale Animal Hospital for 20 years. During those 20 years he served his community as a member of Farm Bureau, President of the Newburgh Kiwanis Club, President of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, Director of the Vanderburgh County Humane Society Board, and served on the Warrick County Council.  After retirement he owned and operated Newburgh Town and Country Farm Market and Newburgh Family Restaurant for several years with his family. Doc, as he was affectionately called, was a lifelong learner and continued to have many accomplishments.  He became a real estate broker and appraiser of timberland. He also obtained his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations in financial planning.  He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. 

Doc is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores (Schmidt) Freudenberg; son Keith Freudenberg of Newburgh and good friend Bill Matthews of Newburgh;  daughter and son-in-law Jana and Mike Witte of Wilkinson, IN; daughter-in-law Kim Freudenberg of Evansville; grandchildren, Trisha and Evie Freudenberg of Evansville, Annalee Witte of Mankato, Minnesota, Evan Witte of Lubbock, TX, and Isabella and Nick Witte of Wilkinson, IN., brother-in-law, Dr. Marvin Schmidt (Carol) of Indianapolis IN., and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by a son Scott Ethan Freudenberg.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no viewing at the funeral home. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at 2:30 PM. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery 1925 Volkman Rd. Evansville IN. 47725 officiated by Rev. Tom Wenig.  For those unable to attend it will be streamed live via Redeemer Evansville on Facebook.  The Freudenberg family would like to thank MSA Network Hospice for their amazing kindness and love during this time with our father and family.
