Corene Koch Firestone, 87, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday,
September 21, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born December 14,
1922 in Newburgh to Karl F. and Nettie Cora (Keeney) Koch.
She worked various jobs in Evansville throughout her life, Republic
Aviation, LST Shipyard, International Harvest, Servel, Chrysler, Mead
Johnson, Alcoa, Old National Bank, and retired from City of Evansville
Controllers Office. Corene had a passion for gardening and was a fantastic
cook. When she was younger she loved spending many hours needle
pointing, crocheting, and braiding rugs with her mother.
Corene is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ruth
(Koch) Barning.
She is survived by her son, Kirk Firestone; nephew, Joe Barning
(Cheryl); niece, Netann Pore (Jim); great-nieces and great-nephews, Tracy
Dame (John), James Pore III, Blake Williams, Stephanie Barning, Justin
Williams, Caitlin Dame, Jenny Lynn Thompson, and Glenn Barning; cousins,
Jean Hoffman,
and Elsie Mae Eiselein.
A graveside service for Corene is 1 p.m. Thursday, September 23,
2010, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh. Chaplain Coy Walters will officiate.
