The world lost a beautiful Lady when Deanna Lee (Harmon) Gerard, age 74, passed away at her home in Newburgh, Indiana, on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.
Deanna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a loving daughter and sister. She was a caregiver to those who needed her help and a dear friend to many. She will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
When Deanna set herself on a mission, whether it was to beautify her home or to protect her neighborhood from annexation, nothing stood in her way. She was a real firecracker when it came to getting things done. She and her husband, Mike, supported their children’s endeavors and worked together for the betterment of their friends, family and neighbors.
She formerly worked for General Tool and Die and was a secretary for Attorney, James Angermeier. Most recently she was a home inspector for the Government Housing Authority. Deanna was a proud member of the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels since 1978.
Deanna’s family and friends will always remember her full of laughter as she embraced the Joys in Life.
Born on September 25, 1939, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Irene (Brown) Harmon and James B. Arnold, Deanna moved with her family to Evansville when she was young. She graduated from Central High School.
Deanna was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Harmon; her father, James B. Arnold; and her brother, Daryl Harmon.
Family members who survive Deanna are her devoted and beloved husband of forty-seven years, D. Michael Gerard; her son, Marc (Sherron) Gerard of St. Louis, MO; her daughter, Michelle (David) Hartley of Tulsa, OK, her brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Harmon of Evansville, IN and Terry (Sue) Harmon of Cadiz, KY; her sister-in-law, Rosemary Harmon; her grandchildren, Hailey and Dax Gerard, Baron Allen, and Ethan Hartley; and nieces and nephews.
Deanna was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Newburgh, IN.
