Diane Mary Wendholt

Diane Mary Wendholt, 77, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born in Evansville, IN, on June 18, 1947, to Oscar and Emma (Kissel) Nurrenbern.

Diane graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1965 and worked as a rural United States Postal Carrier in Newburgh for approximately 37 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a longtime volunteer at Mother Teresa’s, and found great joy in preparing meals for bereaved families. Diane cherished spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Anthony Wendholt; and her son-in-law, Mark Hamilton. Diane is survived by her daughters, Christine Putman Altonen (Gene) and Denise Hamilton (the late Mark); grandchildren, Sara and Rachel Putman, Jonathan and Collin Hamilton, and Megan, Eric, and Ryan Altonen; siblings, Kathleen Barchet (Carl), Carol Martin (Wendel), Jane Nurrenbern, Jim Nurrenbern (Mary), and Cindy Fuhs (Randall); and her dear companion, Don Mayer.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in the church mausoleum at 5020 Bell Rd., Newburgh. An additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
