Doris Jean Backes

Doris Jean (Walker) Backes, 81, of Evansville, Ind., passed away and Heaven received another Angel on September 15, 2016, at Deaconess VNA Hospice in Evansville, Ind.  She was born November 16, 1934, in Browder, Kentucky to Clifton and Mary Louise (Gibson) Walker.

She grew up in Elberfeld, and graduated from Elberfeld High School where she was Valedictorian of her class.  She worked at Evansville Courier and Press and Potter & Brumfield for many years.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.  She loved NASCAR and hockey and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Doris married Henry Frank Backes, and was happily married for 59 years.

Doris is survived by her husband, Henry, her 3 children, Angela Louise, William Frank (Candace), John Clifton all of Evansville; 8 grandchildren, Jabe, Jacob, Kisstin, Cory, Caitlin, Seth, Joshua, and Joseph; brother, Norman (Gerry) of Arizona. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ralph, and Josephine.
