Dorothy L. (Kroeger) Holtz, 91, of Elberfeld, IN, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Good Samaritan Home. She was born March 23, 1927 in Wadesville, IN to the late Ernest and Cecelia (Mann) Kroeger.
Dorothy worked at banks over the years including: Farmers Bank & Trust, Franklin Bank and Elberfeld State Bank; then went on to retire as Postmaster of Elberfeld Post Office.
She was involved in organizations over the years including: American Legion Post 351 Auxiliary, Kiwanis Club of Elberfeld, SWIRCA, Eastern Star, Damenchor of the Evansville Germania Maennerchor., Order of the Amaranth, White Shrine and Daughters of the Nile.
She loved playing clabber, board games and puzzles. She enjoyed music and for several years at local churches she served as the organist. She was a Christian. Her greatest love and accomplishment was her family and her time spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilburn H. Holtz; sister, Marie Eubanks; sons, Ronald Jourdan, Gary Holtz; and granddaughter, LaDonna Dixon.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Kenneth R. Jourdan, Larry Holtz (Cathy), Terry Holtz (Dianne); daughter, Sharon Crafton (late Charles); brother, Marlon Kroeger (Ella Mae); 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Sts., Elberfeld, IN (812) 983-4211. A Funeral Service will be held there at 11a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019. Rev. Steve Oeth will officiate and burial will be at a later date in Zion UCC Elberfeld Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Zion UCC Elberfeld or Zoar UCC Elberfeld.
