Dorothy Mae (Hruby) Englehardt, 86, formerly of Elberfeld, IN, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Golden Living Woodlands in Newburgh.

Dorothy was born July 28, 1932 in Cleveland, OH.  After many moves, she met her husband Carl in Elberfeld, IN, where she lived for the next 64 years.  They had two daughters of whom she was so proud and loved with all her heart.

Dorothy painted interiors of houses, cleaned houses, cleaned the local doctor’s office, was a caregiver and babysitter, and worked at Central Industries in Chandler, IN.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, cooking and redecorating her house.  Dorothy was an avid NASCAR fan and was a dedicated, fanatic fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr.  When Dale Earnhardt, Jr. began racing, she followed him with the same passion.  She was able to go to some NASCAR races and those were some of her happiest memories!  She loved playing clabber and going to the horse races.  Her favorite movie was Gone with the Wind (Dorothy had a cat named Rhett Butler) and she always dreamed of living in a grand southern mansion with big white pillars on the beautiful front porch!  Besides her family and friends, another great love was for her cats.  Her last cat was Chrissy who was a feral cat that she rescued along with the help of another animal lover.

Her husband of 38 years, Carlton T. (Pemee) Englehardt, preceded her in death in September 1988.  Her daughter Susan Marie preceded her in death in May 1975.

Surviving Dorothy is her daughter, Sandra Feagley and her husband, Stephen of Newburgh; grandson, Brian Feagley and his wife, Dora of Newburgh; and two great-granddaughters, Kiah and Katea Feagley.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 200 Elm St., Elberfeld, IN, (812) 983-4211.  Dorothy will be laid to rest at Zion Cemetery in Elberfeld.
