Elder Jimmy Mitchell

Elder Jimmy Mitchell, 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his home.  He was born May 29, 1937 in Lafayette, TN to the late Jimmy D. and Elney (Gammon) Mitchell.

Jimmy was a kitchen designer serving as president of AIKD for years, president of Indiana Society of Kitchen Designers and was the first recipient of the Kitchen Designer Certificate in Indiana.  He also served as pastor of several churches and was the current pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church since 1974. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Mitchell; children, Doug Mitchell, Leanette Gardner (Scott); grandchildren, Elanie Arnold (Doug), Doug Hurt, Lydia Taylor, Jonathan Mitchell, Kiona Chen, Natalie Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Jacie and Elcie Arnold and Gretchen and Bo Hurt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m., with visitation beginning at 4 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Lincoln Ave., Chandler, IN 47610.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Leanette Gardner, 744 Red Brush Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630.
