Emil Charles Plassmeier, 94, of Elberfeld, IN, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, peacefully at Transcendent Healthcare, Owensville, IN.  He was born April 26, 1923, in Boonville, to Ernst and Sarah (Thene) Plassmeier.

Emil was a lifelong resident of Warrick County.  He and his wife, Ruth, were owner/operators of Plassmeier grocery store and gas station on Highway 57 at Wheatonville for some 45 years.

He met his wife to be, Ruth Ellen Morrison at Deaconess Hospital.  They married, June 11, 1967.  After they retired they enjoyed traveling and restoring antique furniture.  They spent their winters in Tavares, Florida, for some 15 years.  Emil was a member of New Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Elberfeld. 

He is survived by his children, Mary Ellen Gaines of Owensville, Michael Lambert (Vicki) of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Julie Wilder (Scott) of Owensville, IN, Jennifer Gaines, Janis Gaines, both of Owensville, Allyn Lambert (Renee) of Bloomington, Matthew Lambert of Cicero, IN; three step-grandchildren, Brett Swinney, Kris Page, Jesse Swinney; two great-granddaughters, Marissa Lambert, Lydia Wilder; ten step-great-grandchildren, Dillin, Austin, Jackson Page, Michayla, Madyllen, Makenzi, Sara, Livian, Caroline, Allison Swinney; and niece, Brenda Broshear.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Ellen (Morrison) Plassmeier; and his siblings, Gilbert Plassmeier and Rosalee Holder.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.,  Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Streets, Elberfeld, IN, (812) 983-4211, Pastor Lisa Resler will officiate and burial will follow at Northview Cemetery.
