Floyd Eli Kohlmeyer, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March
24, 2013, with his loving wife, Edna, at his side. At various times he was
employed at Servel, Briggs, Whirlpool, and Chrysler plants in Evansville, IN.
His main passions, however, were for his John Deer tractors and farming
corn, soybeans, and wheat in the town of his birth, Elberfeld, IN. Amidst his
employment and farming activities, he and his wife still found time to travel
most of the continental United States as well as some of Canada and
Mexico.
Floyd was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Elberfeld, IN, and a
former member of the Eagles Country Club.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 38 years, Edna C. Kohlmeyer, his sons
Michael (Lori) of Newburgh, IN, Bruce of Chicago, Ill., Jeff of Elberfeld, IN,
and Rod Kohlmeyer of Mount Vernon, IN, step-daughter Barbara Deutsch
(Larry) of Chandler, IN, step-son Richard Blackard of San Antonio, TX, his
sisters Norma Jean Engler of Princeton, IN, and Leona Englehardt of
Elberfeld, IN, and his brothers Warren Kohlmeyer (Linda) of Evansville, IN,
and Roger Kohlmeyer of Indianapolis, IN, and nine grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Eli
and Bertha Kohlmeyer, his brother Wilfred Kohlmeyer, and his sister
Dorothy Kohlmeyer.
Services will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Titzer Family
Funeral Homes ~ Volkman Chapel, 2nd. & Elm Streets, Elberfeld, Ind. Rev.
Rick Bender will be officiating with interment in Zion Cemetery. Visitation
will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013 and
Thursday morning 10 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion UCC
Cemetery Fund, Elberfeld, IN.
