Fred J. Hammond, 88, of Evansville IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Envive Evansville. Fred was born in Evansville, IN on November 12, 1936, to late parents Clovas and Hazel Hammond.
After graduating high school, Fred joined the U.S. Marines and served proudly. He then began a career as a maintenance supervisor and started a family. Fred loved art; he was a very accomplished and talented artist and painter. His works are cherished by many. Fred will always be remembered as talented, loving, creative and an excellent father, as well as grandfather, to his 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harvey, Shelby, Richard and Dan; sisters, Katie Sims, Norma (Lloyd) Meyerholtz; and brother-in-law, Dennis Sheffel.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Faith (Mike) Brawley; grandchildren, Caleb Hammond, Levi Hopper, and Caran Sublett; sisters, Mary Metz and Mavis Sheffel; sister-in-law Colleen Hammond; brother-in-law- Silas Metz, and family friend/former wife Mary Gates.
According to Fred and his family’s wishes, he is being cremated. A graveside service, with military honors, will be announced at a later date.
