Freda (Elshoff) Trumpey of Elberfeld
Freda (Elshoff) Trumpey, 97, passed away Sunday June 23, 2013 at Good
Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City. She was born, March 23, 1916
in Bretzville, Ind. in Dubois County, to the late John and Louise (Steineker)
Elshoff. She graduated from Dale High School in 1934. During WWII she
worked for GE in Huntingburg. She married James P. Trumpey July 20,
1940. Freda was a home maker and a Girl Scout leader. She was a
member of the PTA, Lincoln Land Association, Elberfeld American Legion
Ladies Auxiliary, Augustana UCC in Holland, Ind. and also Zion UCC, in
Elberfeld and the Women's Guild in which she held various offices. Freda
also enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, cooking and baking for her family
and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James P. Trumpey;
sister, Florence Beumer; brothers, Raymond and Arthur Elshoff; son-in-law,
Jimmie Guinn.
Freda is survived by two daughters, Lana Trumpey and Linda Guinn;
granddaughter, Stephanie Durrance (Russell); grandson, Kevin Guinn
(Tish); three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Colten, and Sasha; several
nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. CST, Friday June 28, 2013
at Zion United Church of Christ, 165 Elm St. Elberfeld, Ind. Rev. Janet
Buente will officiate with burial to follow in Fairmont Cemetery in
Huntingburg, Ind. Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST., Thursday
June 27, 2013 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, 2nd. & Elm Streets,
Elberfeld, Ind. (812) 983-4211, and Friday 9 a.m. to service time at the
church.
