Fredrick E. Schmitt, 80, of Newberry, Florida, formerly of Racine, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Fred was born on June 11, 1943, to the late Ervin and Dorothy (Martin) Schmitt.
Fred graduated from Millersburg High School, Millersburg, IN in 1961. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the USAF from 1961 to 1965. He retired from Case/IH in 1999. He was a member of the Christian Church in the Wildwood, Spring Hill, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (June) Schmitt; sons, Brian Schmitt and companion (Becky), Kevin Schmitt (Brenda); three grandchildren, Lindsey Schmitt, Kiera Schmitt, Jacob Schmitt; one great grandson, Carter Schmitt; siblings, Steve Schmitt, Ernie Schmitt, Frances Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin, and Dorothy (Martin) Schmitt, an infant sister, and a brother, Art Schmitt.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., with visitation from 4:00 p.m. to the time of service on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Street, Elberfeld, IN 47613 (812) 983-4211.
