Gay Nell Schneider passed away on November 28, 2020 from complications of Alzheimer's disease while a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Evansville, IN.  Gay was born June 4, 1940 to Joel and Lola Ashbrook in Wichita Falls Texas and was the only daughter, and sister, to her two brothers Ray and Gary.  She was a loving daughter and sister to her two brothers, wife of Dr Charles Schneider for 59 years, mother of their son Brian Schneider in Huntsville Alabama, a talented artist, a cancer survivor, and an advocate for women’s rights.   She was an ardent world traveler during her husbands’ career in the USAF.  She loved her three years spent in Anchorage Alaska and the three years spent in Wiesbaden Germany where she was very active in the European Chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW).  While in Germany she was a driving force in changing Department of Defense medical policies relating to treatment of military spouses.  She enjoyed her home and living in the in Newburgh area.  She was outgoing, talented, very clever, caring and well-liked by those around her.   She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers. She will be missed by many.  There will be no visitation/viewing, nor funeral service.  The family will have a small private service at a later date.
