Geneva Powers, 95, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at The Heritage Center. She was born November 27, 1919, in Lynnville to Curtis Ernest and Mamie (Deffendall) Chapman. Geneva was a member of the Good Shepherd Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed quilting, reading the Bible, and doing for others. Geneva loved cooking and her specialties were chicken and dumplings and coconut pie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, in 1999, Glenn Curtis; brothers, Henry Chapman, Ernest Chapman, Curtis Chapman; sisters, Imogene Swain, Marjorie Daily, Lois Greene. Geneva is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Babb (Jerry); sons, Gerald R. Powers (Wanda), Ernest A. Powers (Margie), Curtis E. Powers (Judi); brother, John Chapman; sister, Alma Limp; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Geneva's oldest and youngest great-grandsons were born on her birthday. A special thanks to Dr. Merral Lewis, the Heritage Center staff and Heritage Hospice. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Meyer Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Ind., (812) 424-9288. Rev. Jeff Keenan will officiate. A private burial will be held on Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
