George "Bud" Hawkins

George Allen Hawkins, 73, passed away Thursday January 1, 2015. He was born April 15, 1941 in Evansville to the late George L. and Dolores J. (Baker) Hawkins. George served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was the former owner of the Scooter Stop and Fountain View Mini Mart and Abco Flooring in Evansville. George was an artist and private chef. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Greg. Surviving are his daughters, Christine Schmode (Harald) and Angela Hawkins (Heinz Meyer) of Augsburg, Germany; three grandchildren, Philip and Benedikt Schmode, and Vincent Meyer; his former wife and friend, Sybille Hawkins of Augsburg, Germany; three sisters, Suzanne Garwood of Newburgh, IN, Jennifer Eagleson (Jerry) of Elberfeld, IN, and Mary Beth Hunt (Brian) of Evansville, IN; six nephews and four nieces. We are deeply grieved about the loss of our father, grandfather and former husband and friend. George was a special person for us, always friendly, always optimistic, generous, brave and easy going. We will miss him. Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh County Humane Society. Services for George will be held at 7 p.m., Monday January 12, 2015 with visitation at 5 p.m. at the Potters Wheel Church 333 Jefferson Ave. Evansville, IN. Pastor Rod Murray will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, IN. Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Meyer Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
