Gerald E. (Jerry) McDaniel Gerald E. (Jerry) McDaniel, 60, of Newburgh, died July 14, 2009, of esophageal cancer at home surrounded by family and friends. Jerry was of Catholic faith and a loving husband, father, and friend to all. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Until recently, he worked for Alcoa for 37 ½ years. Jerry was an avid fisherman, who in recent years traveled to Long Island Sound to go ocean fishing. He was a long-time devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved horseback riding. Jerry also enjoyed in earlier years coaching his son's little league baseball teams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Francis McDaniel of Newburgh. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of 37 years; son, Matt and his wife, Christa, of Newburgh; brother, Larry and his wife, Jane, of Humbolt, TN; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Baggett, of Evansville; sister-in-law, Nancy and her husband, Tom Svestka, of Evansville; step-grandchildren, Rhiley and Devin McCune; many nieces and nephews; and very close and dear friend, Larry Bourland and his wife Cherie. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Sheryl Ziegler and staff at OHA and Vista Care Hospice. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Newburgh Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. Rev. Fr. John Silva will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at the funeral home. Condolences may be made online @www.titzerfuneralhomes.com.
