Hugh (Skip) Nicholas, 71, peacefully went to be with the Lord on the early morning of Friday, June 14th, 2024. Skip was born on June 3rd, 1953, in Greencastle, Indiana to the late Joanne Beeler Nicholas and Hugh Poynter Nicholas. Skip has been a resident of Evansville since shortly after birth and was a 1972 graduate of Harrison High School.
Skip held a variety of job titles in his lifetime, including delivery driver, Vanderburgh County Corrections Officer, and Evansville State Hospital security guard; but he found most pride in serving overseas as a Military Policeman with the United States Army.
Skip was a longtime friend of Bill W. He loved people and people loved him - he lit up any room he entered with his enthusiasm and unwavering sense of humor. He loved the sunshine, his jet-ski and motorcycle, the Indiana Hoosiers, and most of all, his two children, Lucas and Grace. If you knew Skip, you knew about his kids because they were his true pride and joy.
Skip was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Nicholas; father, Hugh Nicholas; and sister, Barbara Nicholas.
He is survived by his son, Lucas Nicholas (Karly); daughter, Grace Nicholas; sister, Jeannie Lucas; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Titzer Family Funeral Home at their Meyer Chapel in Evansville, IN for visitation on Saturday, June 22nd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on the same day to remember, honor, and celebrate the life Skip lived.
Lucas and Grace would like to sincerely thank Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center and Gentiva Hospice for their care during Skip's final days.
Condolences may be made to Skip’s family on the Titzer Family Funeral Homes website. All arrangements in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes.
