Ida Mae Allen Ida Mae (Howard) Allen, 53, of Newburgh, formally from Whitesville, KY passed away from her long battle of breast cancer May 5, 2009 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was known and loved by the community because she never met a stranger. She was a strong supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She was employed at Walgreens in Newburgh. She belonged to St. Johns Catholic Church in Newburgh. She was a member of the American Legion Post 44 Ladies Auxillary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyrille and Marguerite Howard of Whitesville, KY and brother Darrell Howard of Hawesville, KY. She was survived by her husband of 31 years Jeffrey K. Allen. Their three girls Brooke and her husband Jason Althaus of Boonville, Cassie and Dena Allen of Newburgh, granddaughter Riley Althaus and looking forward to the birth of her grandson. Brothers: Frank (Nancy) Howard, of Philpot, KY, Shelby (Kay) Howard, of Whitesville, KY, Walter (Becky) Howard, of Newburgh, Russell Howard, of Owensboro, KY, Kevin (Junie) Howard, and Leslie (Susie) Howard, both of Philpot, KY. Sisters: Charlotte (Mike) Eckert, of Newburgh, Janie (Gary) Foss, of Cripple Creek, VA, Nelda (Gary) Grant, of Owensboro, KY and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Ida Mae will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, Indiana, Father Joseph Ziliak will officiate and burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Indiana (812) 853-8314, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
