Irma C. Schmitt, 81, of Newburgh, IN passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born May 23, 1937 in Evansville to the late Edward and Rosaline (Boeglin) Ubelhor. Irma retired from St. Mary’s after working for over 30 years as a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Eugene C. “Spuds” Schmitt; and son, Eddie Schmitt. Irma is survived by her children, Denise Porter of Evansville, Nancy Heald (Matt) of Anderson, IN, Ernie Schmitt (Julie) of Richland, IN, Cathy Jackson of Boonville, Robert Schmitt (Carrie) of Tennyson; grandchildren, Rachel Ruedlinger (Wes), Mark Porter (Bonnie), Alison Haerle, Terese Jackson, Brad McKinney, Kenton Downey (Ashley); and sisters, Lynn Ubelhor and Dolores Mounts (Richard). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at St. Clement Catholic Church, 422 E. Sycamore St., Boonville, IN, Rev. Fr. Jack Durchholz will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Newburgh. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, IN (812) 853-8314. And 9 a.m. until Mass time Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Clement Catholic Church.
