Ivan Dale Brazier slipped gently into that good night on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Dale or “I.D” as he was known by many, was born December 13, 1949 to Harry and Velma (Milligan) Brazier in Eldorado, IL.
Dale attended and graduated from Rosiclare High School in 1968. His greatest passion at that time was playing baseball and basketball and was referred to as ‘that fiery little guard” in many articles. After graduating he promptly volunteered for the United States Marine Corp where he served in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
Dale enjoyed water skiing, fishing, boating and spent many hours on the water with his friends and family. He retired from Alcoa in August 2013, after working for 41 years at his career.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Brazier (Austin); daughter, Laura Brazier Hardy (Jim); son, Ryan Brazier (Ashley); sister, Janet Douglas (Terry); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Hardin County Church of Christ, RR1 Box 196, Elizabethtown, IL, Rev. Larry Harris will officiate and burial will follow in Fluorine Cemetery, Rosiclaire, IL, with Military Rites.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, Ind., (812) 853-8314. Additional visitation will be 12 noon until service time Saturday at the church.
