Services: A walk through will be conducted by the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 at 10 a.m., Thursday. Burial with full military rites will be conducted at St. John’s Cemetery.
Jack Wayne Wilson, 92, of Rockport, formerly of Newburgh, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at his home. He was born in Newburgh, IN on January 3, 1924 to Sadye Mae (Anderson) and Byron Faron Wilson.
He served in the United States Army during WWII with the 36th Division in North Africa, Italy, and in France was a member of the “Lost Battalion”. He received the French Legion Metal of Honor. In 1945, Jack joined the American Legion Kapperman Post 44, remaining a member for 72 years. He was also a life member of the DAV. Jack worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Jack is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Ann Wilson and Jan Wilson; grandchildren, Natalia Fulkerson and Jeric Fulkerson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Wilson (Marilyn); nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Lou; and his daughter, Carol Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. (812)853-8314.
