James E. Sights

James E. Sights, 82, of Evansville IN passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday morning, February 25 2025.

James was born on September 20, 1942 in Yankeetown IN to parents Edward and Agnes Sights. After graduating from high school in Tennyson, James joined the US National Guard and then went on to start a fulfilling career as a coal miller for 40 years at Alcoa. James and his beloved wife, Karen, were married March 1, 1969 and were blessed to spend 55 years together. He loved spending time with his family, going out to eat, attending family gatherings, and most of all he loved attending Harrison basketball games to cheer on his grandchildren. James also held a special place in his heart for his two churches, Christ the King Catholic Church and Methodist Temple.

James is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kyle Sights; his sisters Betty Seitz, Judy Bowman, Helen Sights Knirs, Mary Jane Duncan Patty Hunter; and his brother, Jack Sights. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Sights; his son, Brad (Patti) Sights; grandchildren Mitchell and Madelyn Sights; his sister, Sally Hanley; sister-in-law Vera Wallem; much loved fur babies Sophie Mae and Truman Eugene; and many nieces and nephews. 

A Funeral Mass will take place in James's honor at Christ the King Catholic Church on Thursday, March 6 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place from 9:30 until the time of Mass. Burial at Parklawn Cemetery will follow the Mass immediately. 

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Asera Care Hospice for their attentive care of James.
