Jack Becker
John "Jack" Edmund Becker, 84, of Evansville, passed away, Thursday, May
14, 2009, at his residence.
He was born in Evansville, August 7, 1924, to the late Peter J. and Marie
Catherine (Lehmeier) Becker. Jack graduated Memorial High School in
1942. During WWII, Jack served in the Army Air Corp as a cryptographer
and was discharged in 1945 as a corporal in the 328th. Signal Company
Wing. After serving his country, Jack graduated from Evansville College in
1951. He was an Industrial Engineer retiring from Whirlpool Corporation in
1977 after working over 28 years. Jack was a lifelong member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church, in the city. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and working
crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward and Frederick
and sister, Doris Jean Becker.
Jack is survived by four sisters, Mary Murphy (Bill), Marilyn Pruiett (Jim),
Peggy D. Becker all of Evansville and Joanne Bauer (Rich) of Sarasota,
Florida; two brothers, William and Richard Becker of Evansville; five nieces,
Barbara Monet, Jennifer Childers, Diana Sanner, Marcia Kassenbrock, and
Elaine Creamer; ten nephews, Jeff and Greg Bauer, Dennis, Tom, Fred,
John, and Scott Pruiett, Mark and Mike Becker, and Matthew Murphy.
Funeral services Monday, May 18, 2009, beginning with prayers at 9:30 a.m.
at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E.
Columbia St. Evansville, Indiana, continuing at 10 a.m. with a Mass of
Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 E. Virginia St. Evansville,
Indiana. Rev. Fr. Jean F. Vogler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph
Cemetery. The Retired Veterans Memorial Club of Vanderburgh County will
conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2009 with a rosary
service at 6:30 pm. Additional visitation will be, Monday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
at the funeral home.
