Leo David Schmidt
Leo David Schmidt, 77, of Newburgh,
passed away Tuesday, December 16,
2008
at Core Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was
born May 18, 1931 in Newburgh,
Indiana to George and Clara (Brumley)
Schmidt.
Leo was a member of St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church. He was employed
by Leaseway Leasing and Leo's Garage
until retiring due to health problems.
Leo was a Marine during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
his wife of 49 years, Marjorie
Jean Schmidt, on December 18, 2006; son,
David Schmidt; brother, Pete
Schmidt.
Leo is survived by daughters, Diane
Schmidt of Atlanta, GA, Beth
Fitzsimmons (Bret) of Newburgh;
grandchildren, Lauren and Haley
Fitzsimmons, and Joey and Tony Schmidt;
brothers, Joe Schmidt (Jean) of
Columbus, OH, Edward Schmidt, Maurice
Schmidt (Doris) and Robert Schmidt
all of Newburgh; sisters, Bernadette
Schmidt of Evansville and Mary Schmidt
of Newburgh; several nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at
11 a.m., Friday, December 19,
2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, 625 Frame Rd. Newburgh, IN.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Ziliak will officiate with
burial in St. John's Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted by the
Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans
Club.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
Thursday, December 18, 2008 with
a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Titzer Family
Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel,
510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN.
Additional visitation will be from 10
a.m. to service time at the church.
