Leola "Lee" Margaret (Goebel) Maihle, 71, of Elberfeld, went to be with the
Lord July 28, 2010, at her home.
Leola was born December 1, 1938 in Evansville to Leo A. Goebel & Zelma
V. Goebel. She had three sisters and two brothers. She was a graduate of
Reitz High School in 1956. She was a member of St.
John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Daylight, IN.
As a child she helped run the Goebel Grocery store in Inglefield.
She was a great mother to her children, grandchildren, and great
grandchildren. She was a hard worker and held many jobs varying from
factory to office settings including International Steel Company for many
years. She enjoyed camping, growing flowers and the outdoors in general.
She was a very caring and giving person. She was a mother to all and
enjoyed spending time with her children as well as their friends. Later in life
she worked as an in- home health aid taking care of people in need. She
was well known to stay in contact with former patients, sending birthday and
Christmas cards to them all. She was an avid collector of angels and
rosaries.
Leola was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Bert Maihle; father,
Leo A. Goebel; mother, Zelma V. (Glover) Goebel; sister, Barbara Paul;
grandson, Michael A. Maihle.
She is survived by sons, Bobby L. (Sharon) Hazelip of Dale; Bert E.
Maihle of Lynnville; Lonnie L. (Kerrie) Maihle of Elberfeld; daughters, Debra
J. (David) Finn of Elberfeld; Tina M. (Fred) Reeves of Elberfeld; Kelly Byrd of
Sevierville, TN; brothers, Ron Goebel of Francisco; Joe Goebel of
Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Nancy Hasenour of Haubstadt; Mary Allen of Ft.
Branch; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.
on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at the Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman
Chapel, 2nd and Elm Sts, Elberfeld, IN. (812) 983-4211.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10
a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic
Church,5301 Daylight Dr. Daylight, IN. Services officiated by Father John
Silva with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Elberfeld
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Catholic
Church of Daylight or Riley Children's Research Hospital.
