Lisa Jayne Higgins

Lisa Jayne Higgins, 59, of Evansville IN passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 4, 2025.

Lisa was born in Petersburg, VA on June 26, 1965 to loving parents Tommy and Margaret (Newsom) Nelson. She was adopted by her sweet and caring father Len Galka at 5 years old. After graduating high school, Lisa went on to pursue an education at the University of Alabama. After university, Lisa fell in love with bartending, which then turned into a life-long career.

 Lisa loved spending time with her family – especially her children and grandchildren, who were so close to her heart. She also loved riding Harley’s, being at the beach, and gardening, especially tending to her tomato plants. She had the greenest thumb, any plant around her could thrive and her smile would turn any darkness to light. Lisa will always be remembered as strong, tough, full of life and full of fun.

 Lisa was preceded in death by her bio dad Tommy Nelson; Dad, Len Galka; her beloved grandma and grandpa, Choppa & Sally; and her best fur friend, Lucky. Lisa is survived by her son, Alexander; her daughters, Micheala & Kathleen (Chris); grandkids Isabella, Audrey, Bentley, Hannah, Noel and Korbn; mother, Margaret Galka; sister, Robin Ball; and niece, Belle Jae Fehr; lifelong friend Tracey Mears. 

According to her wishes, Lisa will be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held in Lisa's honor on Friday, January 24th 2025, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Archie & Clyde's in Newburgh, Indiana.
