Mariann Baumgartner 80, of Newburgh, IN., passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born on November 26, 1940, in Evansville, IN., to the late Richard H. and Irene C. (Heitzman) Baumgartner, and step-mother, Maxine (Shoop) Baumgartner. Mariann graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1958 and attended Lockyear's Business College. She was a chapter member of the US Environmental Protection Agency and retired from the Agency in December of 1995 with over 33 years of Federal Civil service, including working at predecessor agencies.

She also worked as a part-time employee for Sears Hearing Aid Centers, Miracle Ear, at Hawthorn Center, in Vernon Hills, IL. Her residence was in Vernon Hills, IL. from 1975 to 2003 and was a founding member of St. Mary of Vernon Church, serving the parish at various times as a choir member, Eucharistic Minister, lector, collection counter and helped in the Sharing Hands Food Pantry. She moved to Newburgh, IN. in August 2003 and joined St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a lector.

Survivors include a sister, Patricia (Matthew) Briggs of Camby, IN., two nieces, one nephew, and several cousins and very good friends. Preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Baumgartner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Mariann at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd. Newburgh, IN., officiated by Father Dusty Burns, entombment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630.
