Marlon O'Keefe Payne of Evansville, Ind.
Marlon O'Keefe Payne, 56, was called home to be with the Lord on
Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at The Deaconess Hospice Care Unit. He
was born February 19, 1956, in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to the late David W.
and Elaine Payne Sr.
He graduated from Reitz High School in 1974, where he was a football
stand out. Marlon continued his education at Indiana University and ITT
Technical Institute.
Marlon was preceded in death by three siblings, Mario Payne (March
2010), Derek Payne (February 2011), and Deborah Cleckley (August
2011).
He is survived by his wife, Valorie (Key) Payne; four daughters, Jamila
Payne, Kamilah (Payne) Mathews (Hiram), Safiya Payne, and Tineke Key;
grandchildren, Mekhi Lairy, Malaya Lairy, and Taray Howell; brothers,
David Jr. (Mechelle), George Payne, both of Evansville, and Broderick of
California; sisters, Mona Bowling, Cherie Payne, Tracy Collins, Ingrid
Cates (Greg), Laurie Payne, Dina Payne, all of Evansville, and Sheila
Higgins (DeMarco) of Alexandria, Virginia; and a host of aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at St.
John the Apostle Catholic Church, 617 Bellemeade Ave, Evansville, Ind.,
47713, burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be
9 a.m. to service time.
The family would like to thank the Deaconess Hospice Care staff: Lisa,
Susan, Amy, Cola, and Tamiko for all of their care and support.
