Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Farny, 97, of Evansville, IN, passed away at her home, Sunday, February 25, 2018.  She was born October 11, 1920 at the Log Inn in Warrenton, IN, when it was owned by her grandfather. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. Farny and Lora Ellen (Wade) Farny; and her sister, Dorothy M. Farny.  She never married and had no children. 

For much of her life she was the primary financial support of her mother and sister, and she lived many years with her mother and sister.  She was a caregiver to her mother, sister, and several aunts.  She lived nearly her entire life in two places, Chicago and Evansville.  She worked with McCormick & Company and some other large corporations in Chicago as an Executive Secretary.  In Evansville she worked for Mead Johnson and for the law firm of Fine Hatfield Sparrenberger and Fine.  She was very good at shorthand and had excellent English skills.  Betty traveled extensively, learned to ride horses, played golf, and enjoyed playing cards.  She loved gardening and working in the yard.  She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. 

Betty is survived by first cousins, Rose Kasky (Harvey), Shirley Walker (Vern), Charlotte Wainman.

Special thanks is expressed to caregiver Ethel Collins, caregiver Brenda Ramirez, helper Keerstin Wydicks, kind neighbors, Deaconess VNA-Plus caregivers, and Deaconess Hospice caregivers.  However, her primary caregiver was her poodle, Willie, who is now going to live with Ethel Collins. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, IN, (812) 424-9274.  Rev. Fr. Ted Tempel will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Haubstadt. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
