Mary Lucille (Payne) Neumann, 98, of Evansville, Ind., passed away,
Saturday, August 25, 2012, at The Good Samaritan Home. She was born,
December 18, 1913, to James L. and Catherine Benita (Knott) Payne, in
Whitesville, Kentucky. Mary came to Evansville when she was 18. She
worked at Memorial High School in the cafeteria while her sons were
students. She married John A. Neumann, Sr., February 6, 1939, a union of
52 years, before he passed, November 6, 1991.
She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, St. Rose Auxiliary,
Eagles 427 Auxiliary, a life member of the Owl's Auxiliary, and the Blind
Association. She loved being a home-maker, repairing old dolls and
making clothes for them, gardening with flowers and vegetables, playing
clabber, and dancing.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers,
Vincent, James, Austin, Gerald, Herbert, and Frank Payne.
She is survived by sons, John A. Neumann, Jr. (special friend, Diane Barth)
of Evansville, William A. Neumann (Linda) of Newburgh; sisters, Kathleen
Kaiser Fulkerson of Owensboro, Teresa Simpson (Paul) of Evansville;
brothers, Raymond Payne, Edward Payne (Julie) of Evansville; and many
nieces and nephews.
Prayers will begin, 8:30 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2012, at Titzer Family
Funeral Homes, Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St,
Evansville, (812) 424-9274, continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial, 9
a.m., at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. Fr. Ted
Tempel will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park
Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes,
Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
Additional visitation will be 8 a.m. to prayer time Friday morning at the
funeral home.
