Melvin Eugene Geddes, Sr., 65, of Evansville, Ind., passed from this life on April 8, 2014. He was born April 5, 1949 in Evansville, son of Kenneth Geddes and Marion Singleton Butterfield. Melvin was a retired steeplejack and machinist and a United States Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his father and sisters, Quanna and Ramona.
Melvin is survived by his mother, Marion Butterfield of Perryville, AR; brothers, Randy (Brenda) Geddes of St. Philip, IN, Ricky Butterfield, Jimmy (Vicki) Butterfield all of Perryville, AR and Vernon (Delta) Vickers of Morrilton, AR. Children, Kwana Manson of Maricopa, AZ, Melvin (Kiah) Geddes, Velma (Kevin) Orr and their mother, Linda Geddes all of Houston, AR, Alonda Mallory (Nicole Barker) and stepson, Christopher (Jennifer) Brackett and their mother, JoAnne Brackett all of Evansville. Grandchildren, Chayla, Shawn, Stevie, Colt, Cheyenne, Devon, Gatlin, Janice, Carson, Jamisson, McKenzi, Chauna, and Ashlynn. 9 great-grandchildren and man's best friend, Payton.
Pall Bearers, Colt Holland, Shawn Hill, Kevin Geddes, Kevin Orr, Christopher Brackett, Joseph Diefenbaugh, and honorary pall bearer, Rudy Mallory.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Meyer Chapel, 100 E. Columbia St., Evansville, Ind. (812) 424-9288. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
