Melvin Eugene Kroeger, 86, of Newburgh, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1925 to Fred and Katherine (Schnapf) Kroeger. He graduated from Newburgh High School in 1943. He was a WWII Navy Veteran having served in Australia and New Guinea. Melvin was a farmer and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and former member of Gateway Baptist Church and a charter member of Northeast Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert (Bob) Kroeger; first wife, Carrie Helen (Woodall) Kroeger. Surviving are his wife, Linda Louise Kroeger; two sons, David Kroeger (Luann) of Newburgh and Gary Kroeger (Gail) of Boonville; three grandchildren, Angela Kroeger, Alan Kroeger (Penny) all of Newburgh and Nic Kroeger (Josie) of Owensboro, KY; great-grandson, Eli Kroeger of Owensboro; two sisters, Jesse Underhill of Chandler and Sue Smith (John L.) of Newburgh; one brother, Kenneth Kroeger (Hattie) of Newburgh; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. Reverend John Swain will officiate with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2011 and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Warrick County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund, 3050 Warrick Dr. Boonville, IN 47601.
