Michael Benjamin Bates, 51, of Evansville, IN, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, May 26, 2010 of heat stroke, while working construction in Owensboro, KY. He was born in Evansville on December 12, 1958 to James B. and Annabelle (Gibbs) Bates. He graduated from Castle High School. Mike enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Orville Bates in 1974. Mike is survived by sister, Sharon Bates Payne (Terry), brother, Dan Bates (Brenda), sister, Dixie Bates Dotson (Melvin); nieces and nephews, Tara Payne, Craig Payne, Kara Bates Hernandez, Brian Bates, Michelle Reine; ten great nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN. Pastor Geoff Bunting will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 and Saturday, 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
