Michael Anthony Murphy, 77, of Newburgh, IN passed away peacefully and with his family by his side on Monday, September 2, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. 

Michael was born on November 12, 1946 in Terre Haute IN to his loving parents, Harold and Rosemary Murphy. After high school, Michael went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from ISU. He then enjoyed a long, accomplished career as a human resources manager specializing in compensation and benefits. He earned several accolades and certifications, most notably as a CEBS Fellow and President of the Evansville HR Association. Michael met and married the love of his life, Janet L. (Byers) Murphy; they were blessed with one daughter and several grandchildren. He had many talents and passions, including music, meteorology, history, and literature. He had an extensive library, which was ever-amassing titles, despite his wife's feigned objection. He was a talented pianist, playing alongside his closest friends in bands such as The Mourning Mist and The Travelers. He was a patron and an ardent supporter of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Janet; his beloved daughter, Erin (Jonathan) Duff; and 4 cherished grandchildren - Bronagh, Ronan, Ciaran and Blair. 

There will be no formal services for Michael, per his wishes. Condolences may be made to Michael's family on the Titzer Family Funeral Home's website. All arrangements are in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, financial contributions in memory of Michael can be given to the Warrick County Public Library.
