Michael Scott Hermes

Michael Scott Hermes, age 57, died August 3, 2017 at the home of his oldest daughter in Lewisport, KY, where he resided since the spring of 2016.  Prior to that time Michael had lived in Perkins, OK, Wichita, KS, Argonia, KS and Evansville, IN.

He was born on May 22, 1960 in Los Angeles, CA.  He graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville in 1978. 

He fulfilled a lifetime goal of becoming a long haul semi-truck driver, owning his own truck and traveling all over the United States with his dog, Sophie, it was a career he loved until illness prevented him from continuing.  Michael had a love of music and found relaxation in riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle for wind therapy.  He enjoyed time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alma Hermes, Howard and Rene Hermes, Hulen and Beulah Cullum; step-father, Jimmie Buchanan; and infant granddaughter, Jordin.  Michael is survived by his mother, Darla Buchanan of Richland, IN; his father, J.R. Hermes and step-mother, Carol of Newburgh, IN; sister, Tina Hermes of Reo, IN; step-brother, Nathan Kent (Lori) of Cadiz, KY; daughters, Dominique Vanover (Derek) of Lewisport and Laine Hermes of Owensboro, KY; step-daughters, Danielle Strahan of TX and Tarren Wilkey of Owensboro; grandsons, Kevin, Jimmie Dale, Rylee, Brantley, Jaxxon, and Adyn; granddaughter, Makayla.  Additional surviving family include aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Simpson Chapel 510 W. Jennings St. Newburgh, IN (812)853-8314.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville.  Visitation
will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, August 7, 2017 and Tuesday 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
