Minnie C. (Sasse) Smith
Minnie Catherine (Sasse) Smith, 89, of Evansville, Indiana passed away
June 5, 2009 in Elberfeld, Indiana. She was born December 9, 1919 in St.
Bernard, Ohio.
She retired from Deaconess Hospital where she was the supervisor of the
housekeeping department. She was an active member of Zion UCC of
Elberfeld. There she enjoyed bible study and helping with the Women's Guild.
Minnie loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sitting on the porch
swing, eating watermelon and watching her great grandchildren play baseball
and softball. She often laughed and shared her motto in life with family and
friends to "eat dessert first."
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Sasse; her
husband, Floyd W. Smith in 2000; daughter, Diane Jane and sister, Carleen
Breedlove.
She is survived by her son and his wife John and Kathy Smith of Lynnville;
daughters
Joan Giannini and husband Jim of Fair Oaks, CA; Judy Fulkerson and
husband Dan of
Elberfeld; and Joyce Embrey and husband Bob of Elberfeld. Grandchildren,

Golden (Dennis) of Elizabethtown, IL; Scott Kerley (Stacey) of Evansville,
Heather Lett
(Rodney) of Elberfeld, Chad Fulkerson (Jodi) of Boonville, John Smith of
Lynnville, Jeff
and Jessica Giannini of Fair Oaks, CA; Ryan Embrey (Sonya) of Oakland
City, and
Cassie Embrey of Elberfeld. Great grandchildren, Kelsey and Alex Kerley,
Tyler and
Ashlyn Fulkerson, Landon and Braden Left and Brittany, Joe, and Jasmine
Wiscaver.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Kincaid, Deaconess Hospice and
nurses Sharon and Diane for their continued care and support.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Titzer Family
Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, 2nd & Elm Sts., Elberfeld IN. 47613, (812)
983-4211. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM., Wednesday, June 10 at
Zion UCC Church in Elberfeld with Rev. Rick Bender officiating, with burial to
follow at Zion Cemetery in Elberfeld.
