Myra Ann Loehrlein, 77, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Evansville, IN on March 21, 1947 to Orville Barnett and Helen Marie (Slater) Owens.
Myra was a 1965 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School before she went on to receive a Nursing degree from the University of Evansville and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years. Myra had a very strong faith, she was a long-time member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she led women’s study groups, taught many children in CCD classes, participated in prayer groups, attended Cursillo, was a Minister of Communion, belonged to the Women’s Club, and was the recipient of the Bruté Award. She enjoyed volunteering at Patchwork Central and baking cookies with her grandchildren. She loved reading, gardening, and traveling with her husband, David. They traveled to numerous international destinations over the years, including Germany, Canada, Italy, Spain, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, and the Holy Land.
During her transition, Myra exhibited humor, grace, and humility while accepting the will of God for her life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Owens. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Loehrlein; three daughters, Lisa Loehrlein, Jamie Parker (Greg), Katie Loehrlein; grandchildren, Jordan Parker, Emily Parker, Gabriel Loehrlein; sister Patty Owens; sister-in-law, Becky Larson; brother-in-law, Eugene Loehrlein, Jr., and several extended nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, November 9, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630, with visitation one hour prior to the service; entombment to follow at St. John the Baptist Mausoleum, 5020 Bell Rd. A Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, at Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Simpson Chapel, 510 W. Jennings St., Newburgh, IN 47630, with a Memorial Service to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Donations in honor of Myra may be made to Chemo Buddies and/or Heart to Heart Hospice.
